It’s with disappointment that UNCW shares the information of the passing of Fletcher Norris on Nov. 12, 2020.
Norris joined the UNCW college in 1970, instructing arithmetic, statistics and pc science programs. Together with two different college members, he designed, applied and taught the primary programs within the new pc science curriculum, which grew to become a brand new main, chartering the brand new pc science division.
Upon retiring from UNCW in 1999, the Fletcher Norris Endowed Scholarship in Pc Science was established, benefitting many college students over time. He was elected to membership in The Order of Isaac Bear, a corporation that acknowledges those that have demonstrated loyalty to UNCW, contributed to the educational high quality of the college or had a big position in uniting the establishment and the group.
Norris had an important love of music, singing with the Cape Concern Chordsmen and enjoying with varied music teams together with “The College Boys,” which consists of UNCW college members.
He’s survived by his spouse of 60 years Janis Anne Cobb; daughter Kathryn (Katy) Norris McManus (husband Jeff); son David Cobb Norris (spouse Vicki), in addition to a number of grandchildren and a step-grandson.
